Board Member Orientation Training Page
California Business and Professions Code Section 453 requires every appointed board member to complete a training and orientation program offered by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) within one year of assuming office.
The training will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a board member, including: board meetings, how to read your board/bureau’s budget, taking positions on bills, and the role of a board member in the adjudication process. In addition, board members will be educated about the Bagley-Keene Open Meetings Act and applicable conflicts of interest laws.
2024 Board Member Orientation Training dates:
- Wednesday, March 27, 2024 (virtual)
- Tuesday, June 18, 2024 (virtual)
- Tuesday, October 22, 2024 (virtual) – Register via LMS
Note about registration: Registration for this training will occur through the DCA Learning Management System (LMS). All active Board and Committee members have an LMS account created for them. If you are having trouble accessing your account, please work with your Executive Officer or Bureau Chief, or contact DCA Member Relations.
