Monica Vargas was appointed in January 2021. Prior to her appointment, Vargas served as an information officer at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services since 2015, where she supported response and recovery communications during some of California’s largest emergencies and disasters. Vargas was an information officer at the California Department of Consumer Affairs from 2013 to 2015, and an analyst at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services from 2007 to 2015.
